Because he likes to boogie - by Danielle

Neither my husband nor I can dance worth a lick and would rather hug the wall at a party or a wedding than be forced to get out there and cut a rug. So imagine our surprise when our son, nearly 15 months old, started getting his boogie on as soon as he could stand. It usually doesn’t matter where the music’s coming from or what the style is. He’ll plant his feet and bounce up and down, hands in the air and arms splayed. Commercials are an excuse to get down, as are performances on American Idol, anything on the radio, and even the rhythm of the washing machine.

As he becomes more aware of the words in the songs he’s hearing, I’ve found myself diving for the remote or turning off the radio more than once. It’s my job as the mama to be careful what those little ears hear. Thankfully, there’s some great toddler music out there from all kinds of companies. There are educational songs, silly songs and sweet lullabies galore. There seems to be a song for every mood and occasion. It makes you wonder what our parents played for us at this age when these great products weren’t around, right?

I’m so thankful that Praise Baby exists. My sweet boy gets to dance whenever he wants and I don’t have to worry for a moment about what he’s hearing. The first time I turned on the Born to Worship CD in the kitchen, he immediately made a beeline for the corner where the stereo’s kept and started bopping to “Step By Step.” He looked at me and grinned and nodded his head in time with the music as if to tell me I’d made just the right choice for that afternoon’s tunes. A few of the songs made him so happy he laughed, and I caught him raising his arms in joy and stomping his little feet more than once. I have a feeling these CDs will be favorites in our house for a long time to come. My husband and I may even be encouraged to dance a little jig ourselves!

My daughter loves to dance, too - and it cracks HER up just as much as it does us!
